A Note from Heather

September 8, 2009

Dear Friends and Family,

It is with great sadness and hope that I am writing you this letter. On Monday, August 31st, I experienced a night of medical complications while in Haiti including seizures and breathing troubles. Because of the severity of the situation, it was in my best interest to come back to the United States to seek the appropriate medical treatment needed. I arrived in Orlando on the evening of September 4th, and took a few days to rest and acclimate back to the environment here as well as prayed on how best to address the circumstance.

Although this is the last thing I wanted to happen, I realize that God is always in control and on my side. It is without reservation that I say I believe He will heal me so that I can do what He has called me to do with complete wholeness! Unfortunately, the enemy attacks when you step out to do great things for God’s glory, but it is with those moments that you must not get discouraged but instead press through the challenges in front of you. I will use this time to take care of myself, and I will continue to pray that God will align me with the best people, doctors, and treatments so that I can be in good health and serve Him to my fullest ability when I return to Haiti.

I have absolutely no regrets of going to Haiti in August, and if anything, this has acted as confirmation that I am suppose to be there serving the children at the Hope for Haiti Children’s Center and the community of Ouanaminthe. Words cannot express the heartbreak I felt when I had to leave, and I find myself crying out to God every day because I wish I were there. I know I have not failed, but I urge you to pray specifically with me that I will not have feelings of discouragement or failure. I have placed it all in His hands, and I will be obedient to His timing. I will not rush the process, but at the same time I will not delay in it either.

I am asking you for your continued support and prayer, and I am grateful for all the encouragement and love that surrounds me daily. I look forward to sharing God’s mighty and perfect work with you throughout the days to come. I love you and please remember that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

In Christ’s Love,
Heather

“For with God nothing will be impossible” Luke 1:37

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths” Proverbs 3:5-6

Two of the full-time missionaries in Haiti, Brenda and Karris, encouraged me with a song entitled Healer by Kari Jobe. The following are the lyrics…

You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease

I trust in You
I trust in You

I believe You’re my healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You’re my portion
I believe You’re more than enough for me
Jesus, You’re all I need

You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease

I trust in You
I trust in You

I believe You’re my healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You’re my portion
I believe You’re more than enough for me
Jesus, You’re all I need

Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You

Regarding sponsorship…

1) If you sponsored me with a one-time gift, the money that remains will be held in the bank account until I return to the mission field.
2) If you are a monthly sponsor, you may choose to postpone your sponsorship until I return to the mission field.
3) If you are a monthly sponsor, and choose to continue your support throughout this time, the money will be deposited and kept in the bank account until I return to the mission field.

Thank you for your understanding with this matter. It is greatly appreciated.
